My 42-year-old son who is disabled from several strokes has been treated like family since his first day as a resident. Norm and Bea Jordan offer a unique "home away from home environment". Their staff is amazing because they are all cross trained in all aspects of patient care and have always been pleasant, professional and patient. All staff members are aware of each resident's physical, mental and emotional status. Norm and Bea offer an "open door policy" so even trivial issues are important if it will make a resident's day a little better. Our lives have both changed in a very positive manner since my son became a resident and we feel very fortunate.

I would like to tell you about The President Madison Inn in Orange, VA. My son has been there only two and a half months and already I can see a great difference. Previously, he lived in a facility that was four hours away for at least four years, and I had been pleading with the mental health association to find somewhere closer to me. Furthermore, he had become so unhappy at that facility, he had stopped eating. I realized I would have to take matters into my owns hands. I found the President Madison Inn and spoke to the owner. We spoke every day, sometimes twice a day for more than two weeks, easing our transition. I will be grateful to the Madison for the rest of my life. My son is now happy, and I can have him home on any weekend and all holidays. The staff is so warm and welcoming and have now become a part of our family.

My 55-year-old sister was in a terrible automobile accident 4 years ago. Her hospitalization and subsequent rehabilitation exhausted her life savings. Since her recovery was not complete, she remains partially disabled and requires assistance with her medications, food preparation and bathing. After qualifying for Medicaid, the social worker gave me a long list of assisted living facilities to contact for help. Few of the many I called accepted Medicaid residents. I visited a few which did, but the facility, staff and other residents there were very undesirable. Then a friend at church told me about The Madison in Orange. I visited the facility with my sister and our whole world changed. The owners, administrators and staff at The Madison are wonderful people. My sister has become one of the family there now and is so happy. The staff is caring and has created a family-like atmosphere for her. This makes us so happy because my husband and I still work and are unable to care for my sister. I highly recommend The Madison to anyone!

My father was 75 years old when we began to realize that we could no longer care for him in our homes. My 4 siblings had been taking turns caring for him but he got to the point where he would leave the stove on after cooking a meal, leave the hot water running, etc. We love our father very much but none of us could afford to give up our jobs to care for him. The family decided that an assisted living facility could help us care for our father. After looking at many facilities over a period of 6 months, we decided on The Madison. We applied and my father was admitted. The owners wanted to make his room as much like home as possible. So we brought his furniture, pictures, tables and lamps from home. Now, two years later, our father is so happy and content at The Madison. He enjoys the activities, social get-togethers, churches and his many friends at the facility and in the community. We assist the facility in planning his meals and the activities he is involved in. Our father continues to be part of the lives of his children as we share taking him home for weekends, holidays and family events. We are so happy with the The Madison!

The Sharifi family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the entire staff at The President Madison Inn, especially Mr. and Mrs. Jordan. It has been a little over a year since our beloved mother passed away, and our dear brother Hamid Sharifi has been living in his new home at The President Madison Inn. Since Hamid has moved into his new home, we feel that you are his first family and we are his second family. We greatly appreciate your support and the sincere care that you give our brother. Our minds are at ease knowing that he is surrounded with wonderful people. We know that our beloved mother's soul is at peace knowing that her darling son is being treated with unconditional kindness and compassion. Words cannot describe how grateful and happy we are that our loving brother is comfortable in his new home.
